Help Us Protect Walt Ranch

2023 has arrived with an exciting project! We are pleased to announce that the Land Trust has reached an agreement with the Hall family whereby we will acquire the entire 2,300-acre Walt Ranch property.

We want to thank the landowners, Craig and Kathryn Hall, for agreeing to donate a significant portion of the value of the property – over 25% of the land’s value. This is one of the largest gifts the Land Trust has ever received. Their gift will be a great boost toward the fundraising effort that will be needed to close this transaction.

This 2,300-acre acquisition will be one of the largest the Land Trust has completed in its 46-year history.

The property abuts other protected land, including Milliken Reservoir and other land previously protected by the Land Trust and it fits right into our plans to ensure the protection of ongoing wildlife corridors across the area. For more information on the project, see our press release here or visit our Linktree where articles from local media can be found.

The terms of the signed purchase agreement call for us to close the transaction by May 31, 2023. So the time to act is now.

We are hopeful about getting a substantial portion of the needed funding from institutional funders – government agencies and charitable foundations – and we’ve been working on that. We still need to raise $9 million more by May 31st in order to protect the property and ensure its ongoing management as a new nature preserve. Every donation helps.

Help us protect Walt Ranch and please give today!
