Last month, the Land Trust had the joy of gathering with some of the incredible volunteers who make our work possible for a special appreciation event.
We met at the Land Trust’s Wantrup Preserve on a crisp morning, sharing coffee, a light breakfast, and meaningful conversation before hearing reflections from CEO Doug Parker, Stewardship Program Manager Mike Palladini, and Lands Project Manager Lena Septimo. It was a moment to pause, connect, and recognize the collective impact of this community.
The morning continued with a guided loop hike through the preserve, offering time to experience firsthand the beauty and significance of the landscapes our volunteers help protect. From sweeping vistas to quiet, tucked-away corners, Wantrup served as a powerful reminder of what’s at stake and what’s being safeguarded because of their dedication.
Quite simply, our volunteers are extraordinary. They are the backbone of so much of our work, monitoring conservation easements across agricultural lands and natural areas, restoring native habitats, supporting our office operations, and leading hikes that connect others to the land. Their commitment, care, and enthusiasm extend our reach in ways that would not be possible otherwise.
Because of them, protected lands remain protected. Because of them, restoration efforts continue. Because of them, more people experience these special places and fall in love with them.
We are deeply grateful. The Land Trust would not be where it is today without this passionate, generous community. Thank you, volunteers!
