The Land Trust is pleased to announce the permanent protection of a 55-acre property just south of Calistoga through a newly completed Conservation Easement.
Located along the iconic Silverado Trail, the property holds significant scenic value—visible not only to those traveling nearby, but also from across the valley along Highway 29. Through this partnership, the landowner has ensured that these sweeping views, along with the land’s rich habitat and natural character, will be protected forever while remaining in private ownership.
“It’s a small gift back to the wild land that gives so much to me,” shared the landowner, who wishes to remain anonymous.
Originally purchased by the landowner’s grandfather in 1907, the property carries a deep legacy of stewardship. This conservation easement honors that history while safeguarding its future, eliminating the potential for development such as a winery and preserving a diverse landscape of Madrone, Coast Live Oak, Black Oak, and Redwood trees.
Three seasonal streams flow through the property, eventually joining the Napa River, further underscoring its ecological importance within the broader watershed.
This project reflects the power of voluntary conservation and the lasting impact of landowners who choose to protect the places they love, for today, and for generations to come.
