Explore The Land

Land Trust Public Access

The Land Trust of Napa County is dedicated to preserving the natural beauty and ecological integrity of Napa County. We provide public access to select preserves, allowing the community to experience and appreciate these protected landscapes firsthand.

Access Opportunities

We offer guided hikes and events that showcase the diverse ecosystems within our preserves. These excursions, led by knowledgeable guides, provide insights into the natural history and ecological significance of each area. Participants can enjoy the beauty of Napa County’s landscapes while learning about our conservation efforts.

Commercial Use is prohibited on all LTNC properties.

Hunting is strictly prohibited on all Napa Land Trust properties. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement Division enforces all hunting rules and regulations. If you witness or suspect poaching or other illegal activity, please contact CDFW’s CalTIP hotline at 1-888-334-2258 or text TIP411 (start your message with “CALTIP”).

In addition to guided outings, we offer self-guided access to two special preserves: the Archer Taylor Preserve and the Dunn-Wildlake Preserve. Self-guided access is available to those who complete a Land Trust orientation and receive access permission.

Look for orientation opportunities listed in our field trips and sign up there.

Visitors who have completed an orientation within the last three years are welcome to visit the Dunn-Wildlake Preserve independently with a signed waiver and advanced notice. The orientation provides information on visitor use, preserve natural history, and ways to get involved with land stewardship efforts. Instructions on how to obtain access will be provided during the orientation.

Visitors who have completed an orientation within the last three years are welcome to visit the Archer Taylor Preserve independently with a signed waiver and advanced notice. Visitors must call the ATP Hike Line at (707) 254-0996 or email ATPHiker@napalandtrust.org at least three days before requesting access permission.

Owned and managed by the Land Trust, Linda Falls Preserve showcases one of Napa County’s most beautiful natural features, a cascading waterfall set within diverse and sensitive habitats. The Preserve is open to the public, with some seasonal and access restrictions. Dogs are not allowed on Linda Falls Preserve.

Trail Access & Parking

Please park at the baseball fields located at Cold Springs Road and Howell Mountain Road. From there, please use the crosswalk and carefully walk south along Howell Mountain Road and turn onto Falls Road, which is a paved pedestrian path. Follow Falls Road to the designated Linda Falls trailhead which is marked with a wooden kiosk and signage. The distance from the parking area to the trailhead is approximately ½ mile. There is no parking at the trailhead, and neighborhood parking is not permitted.

Visitors can join Land Trust–led guided hikes or volunteer workdays to explore the preserve’s rich plant biodiversity, varied ecosystems, and unique geology while helping protect this special place. Visit our Hikes and Events page to learn more and sign up.

Safety

For the safety of our community and natural resources, all Land Trust preserves are closed to visitors during red flag warnings, fire weather watches, extreme fire behavior warnings, or extreme weather warnings issued by the National Weather Service. Please check the latest weather reports before your visit.
