Recent Wildlife Caught on WPI Cameras

They roam at dusk. They slip between shadows. And thanks to our ongoing Wildlife Picture Index (WPI) project, we get to see what few ever do.

These recent images from some of our remote wildlife cameras on Land Trust protected properties reveal the quiet power, raw beauty, and untamed spirit of our region’s wildlife—thriving because of your support and our shared commitment to protecting these natural habitats.

Here are some highlights of what our cameras have captured this season:

Black Bear on the Move

A powerhouse of the foothills, this healthy bear lumbered past one of our higher-elevation cameras just after dawn. A rare sight, and a good sign: it means corridors between wild lands are still working.

Bobcat, Alert and Alone

Lean, silent, and built for stealth. This bobcat paused for a heartbeat—just enough for our camera to catch a fleeting glimpse. They’re solitary, territorial, and a sign of ecosystem balance.

Stag in the Fog

A black-tailed buck, antlers silhouetted by mist, navigating vista trails before sunrise. These are the images that remind us: we’re guests here.

Coyote Patrol

These stealthy coyotes emerge along a ridge at dusk. Opportunistic, adaptable, and ever-watchful—they are both predator and scavenger, helping keep Napa’s wild food web in check.

Real Images. Real Impact.

These photos aren’t just cool—they’re crucial. They give us data to track biodiversity, guide land management, and protect what matters.

Your support makes it possible to keep the cameras rolling, the habitats healthy, and Napa wild.
