The Land Trust of Napa County is pleased to announce the purchase of 42-acres in the Mayacamas Mountains.  The new acquisition connects Mount Veeder Road to The Cove, a 160-acre property owned by Napa Open Space District. This public park did not  have optimal access. As part of this partnership between the Land Trust and the Napa Open Space District, the Land Trust is purchasing the property and will sell it to Open Space District when the District has the necessary funding.

“It really unlocks the possibilities for The Cove,” said Chris Cahill, general manager of Open Space District.

The Cove offers striking views of Napa Valley because it includes the 2,677-foot peak of Mount Veeder. The property also includes redwoods and Elkington Creek, a perennial stream.

Not only will this purchase help in allowing public access, but it will also secure local wildlife corridors in the hills west of Yountville.

“The Land Trust is pleased,” said Doug Parker, CEO of the Land Trust, “ to be able to help the District in the purchase and protection of this important site in Napa County.”
