Missimer Snell Valley Wildflowers

April 6: Missimer Snell Valley Wildflowers

Leaders: Penny Proteau & Linda McClimans; Guide: Jake Ruygt
Rating: Easy, 1 mile, < 1k ft elevation gain

Our Missimer Wildflower Preserve in Snell Valley is known for the diversity and display of wildflowers that occur in its extremely rare serpentine grassland habitat during the spring. These wildflower fields have long been recognized by Bay Area botanists as a gem of the regional flora of the North Coast Ranges. Highlight species are Delphiniums, cream sacs and Ithuriel’s spear. We’ll enjoy the main meadow, lunch near a creek, then explore the nearby woodland and chaparral habitats. Co-sponsor: Napa Valley Chapter of the California Native Plant Society.
