Missimer Snell Valley Wildflowers

April 9: Missimer Snell Valley Wildflowers

Leaders: Chip Bouril & Penny Proteau; Guide: Jake Ruygt
Rating: Easy, 1 m, < 1k ft elevation gain

Our Missimer Snell Valley Wildflower Preserve is known for the diversity and display of wildflowers that occur in its extremely rare serpentine grassland habitat during the spring.

These wildflower fields have long been recognized by Bay Area botanists as a gem of the regional flora of the North Coast Ranges. Highlight species are Delphiniums, cream sacs and Ithuriel’s spear.

After exploring the main meadow, we’ll have lunch next to a small creek, then explore the nearby woodland and chaparral habitats.

Co-sponsor: Napa Valley Chapter of the California Native Plant Society.
