Nov 19: Aetna Springs to Holms Place

Rating: Moderate, 7 miles, 1k ft elevation gain

Explore the remote and less-visited side of the Oat Hill Mine Trail, which partially follows an old stagecoach route. On this moderate out-and-back hike we’ll see wild-looking geologic formations and old freight-wagon tracks carved into solid rock.  We’ll have lunch at the Holms Place near the Palisades where remains of an apple orchard and stone buildings from 1900 can still be seen.

High clearance vehicles recommended.
