Located on the west side of Napa Valley, the Archer Taylor Preserve consists of 380 acres including a century-old redwood forest in the Redwood Creek.
This Preserve has 730 acres of oak savannah, oak woodlands and migratory bird habitat located in Pope Valley. The property was conveyed to the Land Trust by Professor Siegfried von Ciriacy-Wantrup in 1982 and has the best example of oak savannah habitat in the Land Trust’s permanently held lands. In areas where cattle were removed, valley and blue oaks are interspersed with native grasses, wildflowers and shrubs.
For the Land Trust, Stewardship is the perpetual care of the preserves and conservation easements held by the Trust. These protected properties are a legal and good faith responsibility that continues forever. All properties are routinely monitored and related records maintained.
In addition to annually monitoring the 22,000 acres in conservation agreements, the Land Trust actively stewards over 6,000 acres of permanent preserves.
